Everyday Care for a Hand-Stitched Leather Watch Strap

Simple habits for leather, waxed thread, metal and glass.

An ANIMOVIBE strap combines several materials in a small space. Caring for it means considering all of them—not just the leather surface.

A simple routine is a good place to start: keep it dry, wipe it gently and check the details before wearing.

Take It Off Before Water and Heavy Perspiration

Our straps have not been tested for water resistance. Do not treat them as waterproof.

Remove the strap before swimming, showering or activities involving heavy perspiration. The water-resistance rating of the watch itself does not extend to a leather strap.

If the strap gets wet, gently blot it with a soft cloth and let it dry naturally in a shaded, ventilated place. Avoid direct heat, and wait until it is dry before wearing it again.

Keep Cleaning Gentle

For everyday dust and surface moisture, use a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid alcohol, household cleaners and abrasive products. Take care when applying hand sanitiser, perfume or other cosmetics so they do not come into contact with the strap.

We have not approved a specific leather conditioner for our products. Oils and creams may change the appearance of coloured leather or leave residue around the decorative parts. Ask before applying a treatment if you are unsure.

Give the Small Details Some Attention

Wipe the glass eye gently and avoid knocking it against hard surfaces. It is secured using adhesive, so do not pull at its edges or attempt to remove it.

If a thread catches, do not cut, burn or pull it. Photograph the area and contact us for advice.

Open snap fasteners carefully, supporting the nearby leather rather than pulling on the glass or a metal decoration.

Recognise Wear—and Recognise a Problem

Leather can soften, crease and change in tone as it is used. Those changes are different from a loose connector, separating glass detail or broken stitching.

If a component becomes insecure, stop wearing the strap and contact us. Handwork should not be used as an explanation for a part that is no longer secure.

We also do not claim that the materials are hypoallergenic. Discontinue use if the strap causes irritation.

Store It Without Pressure

Let the strap rest in a gentle curve in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid tight folds and heavy objects pressing against the glass.

If it is damp, allow it to dry before putting it away.
